Lessons from the Fires

Have you been looking at the pictures coming out of Colorado Springs lately?  I was born at the feet of Pikes Peak, right in the Springs.  I have so many friends still in the city who have been affected by the fires. It is heart breaking to see the devastation this is causing.

I remember years ago when our house burnt to the ground while my brother and sisters and I were sleeping. I will never forget the smell as long as I live.  That fire all those years ago changed my life forever. I know that those I love who still live in the Springs will also be changed forever.

Some people will wonder where God was during this fire.  I am certain that as four little kids came out of that fire years ago also wondered the same thing.  I can look back and tell you that GOD never, ever deserted us.  He carried us through that fire safely to the other side, using courageous fireman as his hands and feet.

God can use anyone in any place to minister to the orphan, the widow, the mama whose arms ache to hold her little one, one more time. He can use us to be the hands and feet of the Master of the Universe to bring hope to the hopeless.  We can share the GOOD NEWS with anyone we come in contact with.

What looks like devastation in our eyes can be seen in God's eyes as an opportunity.  An opportunity to remember that our treasures are not found here on this earth.  Our earthly home can burn to the ground but the very soul of that home will never die.

God may call us at any moment to remember where our real treasure is.  He can get our attention using a hurricane, or a fire or a sweet smelling small whisper of His Spirit.  Will you and I listen?  What lessons are we learning now?  God is waiting to hear our answer.

Till Next Time,
In Christ Alone,

Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning Satan says, "Oh crud, she's up".
