Welcome Back to Daniel

It's been almost three months since we started the book of Daniel! I dislike having to jump back in since it has been so long but the book of Daniel is SO worth it. So my first request is to go back and read chapters 1-5. It is a fairly quick read. It will help refresh your memory. With that in mind lets go to chapter 5.

King Belshazzar was the son of our buddy King Neb. He had to have grown up knowing the stories surrounding Daniel and his friends. He also had to have known that his Dad, King Neb spent seven very long years living with the beasts of the field and eating grass like an ox. I don't know about your family but when we have significant emotional events they are passed down to the next generation in the form of stories. I would venture to guess that he just forgot the lesson. Aren't we just like the King? We forget the lessons God has for us. We throw aside things learned for the urgent.

When Daniel comes before King Belshazzar he is promised purple clothes (a symbol of importance) gold around his neck (being rich) and third in line to the King (power). Doesn't that remind you of Satan in the wilderness with Jesus? We are also temped with all three of these things. Daniel wasn't even tempted. He said "no thanks, you can keep all of it."

I love Daniel. He is a man of courage and integrity. He inspires me to be better than I am. I hope you are also challenged. Be blessed. Till tomorrow.

In Christ Alone,

Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning Satan says, "Oh crud, she's up".
