The King's Response

Our King Neb goes from wanting to cut up all the wise men to promoting Daniel, the interpreter of his scary dream. Let's listen to what he says to Daniel.

Daniel Is Promoted

46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face and paid homage to Daniel, and commanded that an offering and incense be offered up to him. 47 The king answered and said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is God of gods and Lord of kings, and a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery.” 48 Then the king gave Daniel high honors and many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon. 49 Daniel made a request of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon. But Daniel remained at the king’s court.

Dan 2:46-49 (ESV)

So Daniel gets a promotion and makes sure that his three buddies are also taken care of. Daniel's story reminds me of Joseph's story. God is obviously with both of them and they get a nice promotion when the rulers over them see the power of God.

As the second chapter of Daniel ends King Neb falls on his face and pays homage to Daniel. Sixteen years go past before chapter 3 starts. King Neb will forget everything he has learned in the next 16 years. How quickly you and I forget. Let's see what he does once he forgets about the God of Daniel.

In Christ Alone,

Jill

Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning Satan says, "Oh crud, she's up".
