Farewell

My precious sisters in Christ;

I was driving down the road about three weeks ago and was praying for my family. Out of the blue I felt a gentle push. I want you to leave the internet is what my heart said. Now I don’t claim that God spoke to me but I do know when I am being prompted by God’s Spirit inside of me. First I argued, which is no surprise to those who really know me. I said LORD do you know how big my blog is getting right now? I love teaching and this has been my only avenue over the past year. Why would I want to give it up? Why would the LORD want me to get rid of it? It made no sense to me. Again, I want you to give up the internet. Then I argued about the other things I do on the internet like our banking. How would I ever pay bills again? Again, I want you to give up the internet. Then I whined which is not a pretty site inside my head! I love reading blogs from other women, why would I give that up?

Then I remembered Gideon and his desire to please God but he needed some proof. I would be heading out to go visit son#1 and his wife and now three children. They don’t have radio, TV. or the internet so I left my computer at home. The second afternoon I wished I had the computer but prayed and the desire went away.

I promised the LORD that when I got back from our sons I would get my bills in order so I could be off line for a month. I will be gone a full month and then ask the LORD again. I can’t imagine not writing about God’s word any more. But, I have learned over the years to trust the Master of the Universe. I am not giving up a child like Abraham was asked to do but I am giving up a passion that I have felt was honoring God and I have no clue why.

It has been a pleasure to come into your home and share God’s word with you. Please pray for me as I will for you. There are many blogs out there that will encourage you but I guess mine won’t be one of them.

Thank you for inviting me into your home. I love and will miss you all.

In Christ Alone,

Jill

  2. I'm sad to read this. How will we keep in touch? I understand being convicted by God, however, so I support your decision. Love you!
