A Very Hard Saying Day 86

There are times when God’s Spirit tells one of the writers something that is very difficult to follow. Today we find ourselves in one of those situations.

Let’s look at the scripture first and then meditate on what John is saying.

Do Not Love the World

15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world— the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

1 John 2:15-17 (ESV)

I have been blessed to travel this land from the north to the south and the east to the west and I have to say we have many beautiful places in our country. I love the mountains and I love the oceans. I have so appreciated the beauty that God created for us to enjoy.

Nature is not what John is talking about though. He describes not the world itself but what is in it. The desires of the flesh, desire of the eyes, and pride in possessions is a whole different story.

None of these are from God, not one! Our world screams at us each and every day, more, more and some more. In the next few weeks we will be looking at practical ways to honor God with our lives. Would you meditate on this passage with me?

In Christ Alone,

"Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning Satan says, "Oh crud, she's up"
