Day 82 Don't Turn Back

Good morning Ladies;

Today we are in the book of Galatians. First, let’s get some background so we understand what Paul is saying.

First off, Galatians was not written to one church but to a group of churches in Galatia. The original people who occupied the region were the Phrygians. They did not worship God but nature. There were many Jews that lived in these cities. The Galatians were considered fickle and impetuousness. They were curious people who loved new things. Paul did not start these churches but he visited the region twice.

The churches in Galatia were challenged by two things. First, they struggled with keeping the purity of the gospel and second they struggled with their behavior. Some came to the churches and stirred up the people by distorting the gospel. They preached that works were what saved them. In other words they craved the bondage of the old law.

Paul was amazed that the people were so easily swayed by false teachers. He didn’t understand why they would want to abandon

A Tree and Its Fruit

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. Matt 7:15-20 (ESV)

So what is the lesson for you and me? Stay on the path that Jesus paved for us by his blood. Don’t go backwards but hold onto our Savior. The other lesson which is just as important is to be aware of false teachers. Don’t be sucked into those who preach anything other than what scripture says. If you can’t prove it by scripture then it is what is called a disputable matter. They are not salvation issues and we have to leave them alone.

Don’t turn back Christians. Stay the course. Till tomorrow.
