The Boy King

Good morning everyone. One of my favorite kings is Josiah, the boy king. He was only 8 years old when he became king. At the age of 16 he began to seek the God of his father David. He tore down all the Asherah poles, carved idols and cast images. He even went so far as burning the bones of the priests on their altars. He was serious about “cleaning the place up”

Scripture says King Josiah did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, and walked in the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left. No ditch walking for him. A very wise man once told me that it doesn’t matter if you are in the ditch on the right or the ditch on the left, you are still in the ditch! Stay up on the road and you won’t get into the ditch.

Josiah was a great king because he stayed focused on the task at hand. He wasn’t satisfied with just ridding the land of the “gods” but he wanted to know the one true God. Moses’ laws were buried in the temple. When it was found Shaphan, Josiah’s secretary read the law to Josiah. He tore his robes and wept. A boy of 16 who had never been taught about Yahweh heard the story and bowed before His maker.

I want a heart like the boy King Josiah. Think about it.

In Christ Alone,

"Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning Satan says, "Oh crud, she's up"

  1. We are all called to be the Royal Sons/Daughters of our Father King and Royal Son...the Bible is a Royal Manual for us and Josiah an excellent example on how to think, live and behave as Royalty! (Prince Everlove
